Ultimately the main reason I am learning to grow food is to help our family become more self sufficient so using the food we grow, cooking with it and learning to preserve it is an important part of the process. 


If you've been following my blog or social media channels for long you will know my ultimate long term goal is to buy a smallholding, a house with some land where we can grow our own food and raise animals. This is likely a long way off for us but I still think about it everyday and in the meantime I'm trying to learn how I can create an urban homestead or urban smallholding, a micro version of my dream in the space we already have. 


Over the past few years I've been learning how to cook different foods that we grow and also how to preserve it in different ways for example dehydrating it, pickling it and canning it. My plan is to share all this with you vie my blog here, my Tiktok, my insta and my Youtube so you can follow my learning process.
