Environmentalism & Conservation

If you know me or you have followed any of my blogs or social media accounts for a while you will know that I am passionate about nature, wildlife and the planet in general. In previous years I would try not to preach too much or be overly outspoken about my thoughts and feelings regarding these topics, however, I'm increasingly becoming more concerned about the future of the earth we inhabit. The damage we as humans are doing to the planet, the natural environments and wildlife that shares it with us.

In 2021 I completed my Masters Degree in philosophy and I chose to focus my final dissertation on environmentalism and aesthetics. I write about my findings and thoughts related to how we as humans are caring for nature. You can read my Masters Degree dissertation 'Aligning aesthetics and environmentalism: A consideration of aesthetic care for natural landscapes' here

I had originally planned to progress on to a PhD hoping that the ideas of focused studies I had would have some positive impact on the world. I hoped that I would be able to write and be heard. I thought that having a PhD would mean people might listen to me, they might read what I have to say and really think about it. That I would be able to help, in some way. Unfortunately looking at the costs involved in getting a PhD placement it looks like I will struggle to afford to achieve this goal. Instead I may just have to settle with continuing my own research and study, writing up my thoughts and findings here on my blog. It is unlikely that they will reach a wide enough audience to make any impact on the world. It may well be that much of my writing goes unread. I will feel better writing it though and at least it shows I have tried.

Over the years I've written a number of blog posts focused around environmentalism and conservation, below I will add links to some of these posts and I will aim to add links to any new posts on these topics that I publish.
