I have a botanical sketch to share with you today.
I spent Friday evening reading my new book Botanical Drawing - a step by step guide by Penny Brown inspired i then decided to have a quick go myself. Obviously true to form sketching is all new to me, i'm experienced in abstract and sketchy floral forms but i don't tend to work in detail and true form so this was a new experience for me.
Given this took me about 10 minutes to do i'm pretty pleased with the finished sketch, it looks like the flower i was looking at so that is a good start. With my critical hat on i can see i need to improve on my leaf edges for sure but i hope that will all come in time.
I used basic cartridge paper and a 4B pencil.
