3 Facts about Tulips that I didn't know until now

1. Some Tulip petals are edible. Apparently in 1944 during the 2nd world war there was a famine throughout the Netherlands and people would resort to eating sugar beets and tulips. *This is a new fact for me, one that I need to do more research on before I even consider eating any tulip petals. I'd recommend doing much more research before eating tulip petals. It is likely that some varieties cultivated today are not edible.

2. There are a lot of different types of TulipsThere are apparently, according to my research, over 150 species of tulips with over 3,000 different varieties.

3. Tulips were once the most expensive flower. In the 1600's they apparently cost more than the average working mans salary making them more valuable them most possessions a man could have, including a home!
