Cheap and easy jammy buns to make at home

If you are looking for an affordable and easy sweet treat to make that will make use of the jam scraps you have in jars in the fridge, this recipe is perfect. You can use up any flavour jams you like, we used some strawberry, blackberry and even lemon curd. It's a great recipe to use up the tiny bits leftover at the bottom of jars.

The original recipe is from a very old children's cookbook, they called them 'fruity buns' but we decided that wasn't the right name for them and have called them jammy buns ever since. The recipe is easy enough for children to make though it is rather messy so I would advise supervision of younger children.

Ingredients

225g self raising flour (& extra for sprinkling on work surface)
100g butter or marg
100g caster sugar
1 egg
1 tbs milk
Jam of your choice

They may look messy but they taste delicious, we all enjoy them.

If you have a go at making these let me know, I'd love to hear what you think.
